Lively variety in the historic suburbs

At the turn of the century, a ring of suburban Gründerzeit formed around the historic city center. This "ring" gives the district its name. Characteristic are the different neighborhood structures with a colorful mix of uses and functions. Here residential buildings predominate, but also new residential quarters have emerged. Small "islands" of closed Wilhelminian perimeter block developments are particularly in demand as residential areas close to the center.
